Interview: Trinity Faegen [Author of THE MEPHISTO COVENANT]

In celebration of the upcoming release of The Mephisto Covenant, which I ADORED, I have an interview with the amazing author herself! The Mephisto Covenant comes out next Tuesday on 9/27/11.

1. Describe THE MEPHISTO COVENANT in a haiku.
Gee, that’s mean! I’m so not a poet, and haiku? Yeah. But here goes:

A son of Hell needs
A daughter of Eve to love
Will she love him back?

2. What inspired you to write TMC?
After someone close to me was sexually assaulted, I thought a lot about evil. Why do
human beings commit evil acts? Are we all capable of evil? While all these thoughts ran
through my head, I had a dream about a band of brothers whose only function was to
eradicate evil in its purest form. I woke up with these guys fully formed in my thoughts
and realized I wanted to write their stories. Writing can be strangely therapeutic, and
imagining a group of kickass boys who take out heinous humans went a long way to
easing my anguish over the sexual assault.

3. Which of the seven Mephisto brothers do you adore the most?

That’s too hard! I love them all! But I suppose, if you held my feet to the fire, I’d have to
pick Phoenix. He’s complicated, solemn, and a little bit mysterious. He’s the kind of guy
who inspired the old saying, “Still waters run deep.”

4. If you could travel back in time, which era would you go to and why?

Regency England. I know they probably smelled bad, and using a chamber pot would be
a drag, but it’s such a romantic time, a somewhat forward thinking society, cultured and
gracious, and the last period of innocent Earth before the industrial revolution changed
the world.

5. What is the scariest movie you've seen?

I know it’s been out a long time, and kind of a cliché by now, but The Sixth Sense freaked
me out. “I see dead people.” Hmm. Maybe I invented the Purgatories to dispel my fear of
seeing dead people?

6. Any future projects or sequels to TMC?

I’m working on Book 2 of the series. Another Mephisto brother finds another Anabo,
but this story is very different than Jax and Sasha’s. This Anabo is the daughter of the
American President, and she’s got all kinds of attitude. She’s so much fun to write! This
book also has lots more page time for Eryx and he’s an intriguing character to develop.

Many THANKS to Trinity for being here today! ^_^ How many of you guys would like to win a copy of this book?! :D Please state so in the comments! (Note: Not an actual contest, just taking a head count of who wants dibs)

Sasha is desperate to find out who murdered her father. When getting the answer means pledging her soul to Eryx, she unlocks a secret that puts her in grave danger—Sasha is Anabo, a daughter of Eve, and Eryx’s biggest threat.

A son of Hell, immortal, and bound to Earth forever, Jax looks for redemption in the Mephisto Covenant—God’s promise he will find peace in the love of an Anabo. After a thousand years, he’s finally found the girl he’s been searching for: Sasha.

With the threat of Eryx looming, Jax has to keep Sasha safe and win her over. But can he? Will Sasha love him and give up her mortal life?

LOL I was supposed to watch The Sixth Sense in the seventh grade before, but I skipped out on it. Scary movies? Not exactly my forte. x)

Awesome interview! :) Now I'm even more excited to read TMC!
