Hey hey, guys! :) Today, I have a short & sweet interview with the stellar author that you all want to know, Wendy Higgins! ♥ She's a fantastic writer and she's the one who introduced Kaidan Rowe, the embodiment of smexiness! ;D Stay tuned in the end for some deadly sins Wendy has of her own!
1. Sweet Evil is so unique! How did you come up with the world building?
This is always so hard for me to answer because I honestly don’t know. It was just a lot of brainstorming, asking myself questions, throwing out ideas that didn’t work, etc.
2. When you were writing Sweet Evil, were you the kind of person to outline or just write freely as it came to mind?
Oh, there was NO outlining. In fact, the story was put together like a giant puzzle because I wrote scenes as they came to me, out of order. The whole thing was rewritten so many times! It’s crazy. But I *try* really hard to outline books now because the revision process otherwise is so difficult.
3. Why did you choose to write about angels and demons?
At the time I didn’t know of any other angel stories. Hush, Hush came out a week after I finished my first draft, and then there were angel stories galore. But I’ve always been fascinated by angels and demons. One of my favorite classics is John Milton’s Paradise Lost.
4. Do you have any advice for young writers?
Write the story that’s on your heart. Don’t try to write for any trends, and don’t write what you think people want - write what YOU want, otherwise there’s no passion in it. Consider all criticism with an open mind, and take rejection in stride. Everyone gets rejected. It sucks, but it’s part of the process.
5. Will there be any sequels in the future for Sweet Evil? Are you working on any different projects?
The sequel (tentatively titled Sweet Hope) is currently under consideration with the publisher. It’s slated in my mind to be a trilogy. I want to revise it again, and then I’ll begin on book three. I’ve also written a book set in Ireland with lots of faerie lore, but it needs some reworking as well.
Lust:
I lust Channing Tatum and Josh Hartnett.
Greed:
I’m greedy for books - more, more, more! Mine, mine, mine! (Seriously though, I’ll share, but if you dog-ear my pages I’ll go all demon on you.)
Envy:
I envy people with Macbooks, Nooks, and iPhones...
Wrath:
When people hurt those I love, it brings out my wrath!
Gluttony:
I am a glutton for fried food and carbs.
Sloth:
I’m a sloth when it comes to housework. UGH.
Pride:
My pride is in my children, my 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, who I gush about far too much.
Thanks so much for having me, Gianna! :)
