Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
Obsidian was seriously just awesome, and dare I say that I liked it even better than Half-Blood? Yes, I do DARE SAY that Obsidian kicks Half-Blood's ass in terms of awesomeness!
Oh, the romance! This was definitely a slow burning romance. I kind of expected there to be hints of instant love in this book (I don't know why, I just felt like I did) and there were absolutely no traces of it. I love the relationship between Katy and Daemon as it starts off rocky and turns into something more over the progress of the book. ♥
The ending was pretty much amazing. It wraps things up, but with a promise that there's more in the future between our aliens and Katy. Thankfully, it doesn't end with a dreaded cliffhanger but it definitely did leave me dying for the next book!
In all, Obsidian is a great start to what seems to be an awesome series! Despite the fact I couldn't get into this book until over halfway, I really liked it. With a refreshing take on aliens and wonderfully written, slow burning romance, I'm sure anyone who enjoys young adult paranormal books will really enjoy this as well!
