Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

I got this a surprise in the mail a couple of months back and while the concept seemed interesting, it didn't really capture my attention. Recently, I've been seeing a surplus of good reviews and I was in need of a new book, so I decided why not?

Ahhhh, I'm so glad that I got to read this book! It was just simply ah-mazing!

Cinder is an absolutely unique fairy tale retelling of Cinderella. I loved the fact it was set in Beijing (or New Beijing as it's called in the book), the futuristic technology, and of course, the characters! Cinder was such an amazing heroine. She's strong, smart, caring, and doesn't let the boy attention get all in her head. Even though she may not be 100% human, she still had feelings and it broke my heart when things came crashing down on her (darn that evil stepmother). What I really liked though is that she stuck through and through despite all these new obstacles and changes.

I also loved Kai! Oh, my, he's just such a sweetie. The fact that he's also a very attractive prince helps too. ;) I loved the relationship between Cinder and him as it was just natural and not over saturated with insta-love like the many YA books we know today.

The plot line, I admit, was rather predictable for me but I still really enjoyed it. It's such a fast read, I didn't know I was already over half-way in about an hour! The ending is absolutely...horrible. I loved it, but I hated it at the same time. There's quite a bit of things left unresolved and I'm dying to know what happens next! I thought Cinder was a stand-alone, but apparently, she appears once more in the next book, Scarlet, which also features Little Red Riding Hood.

In all, Cinder has its quirks and charms and it is one fairy tale retelling you do not want to miss! It's completely enchanting and you'll be sucked into this marvelous fantasy created from the talented Marissa Meyer.

Thanks from Macmillian Audio, I have a lovely audio book sample of Cinder! (Chapter 1, of course) ♥

Plot line was seriously predictable. And there were a few gaping holes here and there, but without all the nitpicking, I can say I actually liked Cinder much more than I expected. Cyborg Cinderella didn't quite steal my heart, but at least it wasn't a total snooze fest. The cover is awesome :) COngrats on getting near 200 :)
